searchENGAGE has grown from Engage with the Page, regular free posts in which we highlight a picture book and show how you could teach different concepts of word inquiry through the book, whether this is investigating an orthographic concept for the first time or reinforcing something already studied.

How to use searchENGAGE

Once you search your target element you are directed to a number of books that will provide opportunities to explore that element. Choose a book and you are given suggestions not only for your target but other possible avenues.

Educators can search through Finding Families, Looking into Letters, Sorting out Structure, Telling the Tale and Classroom Connections to find books. You could also begin with a book you are using in your classroom already and uncover the word inquiry within.

Each book database entry will contain:

1 or more word families to explore, linked to the book
phonemes and graphemes that are highlighted in words or themes within the book
structural morphemes that showcase a range of prefixes and suffixes located in the book
the etymology of a word linked closely to a word in the book or the theme
classroom connections linked to themes prevalent in current classrooms

Subscribing to searchENGAGE

Individual Subscriptions

Individual Subscriptions include:

A Free Sample – Users enjoy a sample of 30 curated books. You will see 30 books pop up when you click on ‘searchENGAGE All Books’ but will notice as you explore the site that there are many many more! You won’t find books listed for each element as these are available for paid subscribers.
Individual Subscription: Once you subscribe you will be able to access over 300 books via all the features outlined above. – $35/year

Because we passionately believe in this, we have tried to make the subscription affordable for schools, offering a 50% discount on the individual subscription price.

Institutional Subscriptions

Institutional Subscriptions include:

Small Team Institutional Subscription: If you are a small team within a school you can purchase a 5 user subscription as we still want to honour your collective access and will offer a 25% discount.
Institutional Subscription: 50% discount on the individual subscription price for schools or similar educational organisations for groups of 10 or more. Essentially, every user you subscribe for you get another user for free! Receive all the features of an individual subscription if you sign up as a school, grade level or department. An institution seeking to subscribe can make payment by credit card on a supplied payment portal link or we can issue an invoice for either credit card payment or telegraphic transfer of funds.

Once payment has been received we will provide a registration template spreadsheet in which faculty names and email addresses are recorded and we will register them as institutional subscribers under your school’s master account.
