Targeted online workshop November 2021
New workshop just scheduled - Session B - great for Asia/Australian time zones.
Circle games, lesson breaks, exit tickets, energizers: Having fun while ‘practicing to make permanent’
Little and often is the key as we engage students in retrieving and reviewing material already studied. The aim of this workshop is to increase your confidence in using games and activities to consolidate orthographic concepts. Getting students moving is helpful to cement learning pathways - and these ideas can all be adapted for those working with individual students, small groups or a whole class. Likewise they can be adapted for our youngest learners to teenagers. We’ll explore ways we can facilitate retrieval rather than just reviewing concepts. Participants will be encouraged to contribute on a shared document a 5-minute game or activity they have used successfully with their students.
This workshop is two hours of content, scheduled to be two 60 minute sessions held over two days. This ensures you aren't on Zoom for too long at a time, yet over two sessions there will be lots of opportunities to practice applying the ideas.
Session A: Part 1 and 2 - Monday evenings in the USA

Participants
Everyone is welcome! While the Targeted workshops are designed for those who already have some level of training and experience, anyone can attend.
Online Platform
All workshops will be run online via Zoom. Once you register you will receive the details to join the meeting. If you have never used Zoom before you will be guided to download it prior to the meeting. Respectfully, I ask that you have one person only per registration - and therefore one person to a device. Email me if you wish to register 2 people and sit together with one computer.
There will be a 10-minute window prior to each workshop when participants are encouraged to join the meeting and a 10-minute window at the end of each workshop when interested participants can remain and ask further questions.
